2. Children of men
3. Thx 1138

trailer for children of men
all three films are visual and audio wise very interesting and also involve a journey, physically, mentally, emotionally
Three kings directed by David O. Russell
Children of men directed by Alfonso Curon
Thx 1138 directed by George Lucas
Thx 1138 make interesting use of depth of field and telephoto lenses, for compression, he was influenced by Akira Kurosawa who used the same techniques, check out seven samurai, battle scene in the rain
Three kings is directed with a 90s influenced, very much from an experimental feel of music videos, more montage then anything, you feel more from the characters perspectives then anything else, also has spike Jonse in the film, himself a film director, who did John Malcovich
Children of men goes for a more cinema verity look using extreme long takes, following character movements, it looks really good and add allot of immersion to the film
audio wise there interesting too Richard beggs did sound design for children of men, and has worked on other projects as well as Walter murch, it more of an emotional soundtrack, coldness and harsh, which matches the brutal dystopian society
Walter murch did sound design for Thx,, and in fact on the dvd theres a feature to watch the film with just the sound track and no dialogue, again it matches the coldness of the films future.
Three kings has a sound that is based on people perspectives, what they hear how they are feeling.
Conclusion anyways it to watch three films as they are pretty good!!
peace out!!!!

Video Below
The Video Below us is what we filmed Weds, 1st of April 2009, it is some of the shots and locations we will use for our Journey project, that the whole group made.
What you think guys, any improvements, Suggestions??
Some of it looks okay, just need actors and more Footage, library location important, So should film there soon,
this whole piece is like over half our project length, so cutting might be an issue, Shots of walking should proberly be kept at a minimum of 5 seconds or less
I think also the filming at a quieter time if all possible might be useful, for sound issues, and that were not in anyones way,
I did a bit of colour correction on this vid too, to make it more saturated, more contrasting, to show what change you can do to footage to make a mood. Be good to see what Colour correction you'll put on jess, tell me what you think?
I think some of the compositions were good and think look good on widescreen too, I like the shot of the entrance to Library and outside winter gardens, Charlotte. we need to actually have shots using blur/focusing, looks a bit confusing from 1:15 to 1:56
For audio, i think it was good, not distorted, boom out of frame and it was hearable. except for some loud clanging noises of construction. need some sound designing, to create atmosphere, tone etc but getting sounds recorded well was good
Your thoughts?
Alex
