http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TX1rxPBTyEY

This Battle footage is interesting, Dnt know how i found this but the Film's okay, this is a great sequence with the use of sounds and Music mixed with the visuals, to creat a sense of aticpation but also the psychology of the Soilders and horses maybe?? what you think? the mix of ambiense as well is good

Composed by Nino Rota who also Composed the music for godfather with Carmine Coppola who is the director Francai's uncle i think.

Jerry GoldSmith

Check out his other work, from star trek and planet of the apes too.

Mentions, Because i won't put everythin up, cos i guess it be too much but

Tan Dun, Crouching tiger hidden dragon and hero

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHH NOOO I totally forgot about hanz zimmer one of my favorite composer, i must of said that a few times, Very good

One of the best theme tunes ever

another good soundtrack to a good film, The Thin red line, very philosophical

And another coposer i forgot about Steve Jablonsky, Who's done a few films with Micheal Bay, Transformers and the island, and well as gears of war 2 and other computer games

I know this is only a very small amount of the artist work so i'll tell you to go out there and just look loads of them up because they've done alot of great work. that's all for now

Back to work!

Composers

I've seen some of the videos of the music artists that you all like, so i thought i'll add a few artist and composers of films i like too and hopefully you'll like them too.

Danny Elfman is i think a good composer working in hollywood, distictive and regonisable, he done alot of work, especially with tim burton, One of my Fave is Big fish, check out the track "finale" if you can. anyway this one is from Spiderman which he did.

Another film he did, tried to find big fish but ahh well ,Edward sissorhands will have to do.

John Williams You'll know him. one of the most regonisable Composer in Hollywood, and You'll know this theme, they got rid of the main one on youtube but this one's good

This is a really good track from a great film, Jaws, like neil was talking about, a regonisable theme for a character or object, favorite part 1:45 onwards

Thomas Newman another composer, this song is outstanding and when im down, it makes me happy, Like the film, which is itself of journey.

Another Good one is Road to perdition, check out some other films he dones, there quite a few, i chose this one, Wall-e it also deals with a journey, and is quite deffierent in timbre and instuments but regonisable at same time

Another song you'll know is this by Polish Composer Wojciech Kilar.

A really Great Song from Truman Show that i'v been looking for ages is Father Klobes preaching, not sure who it's by i think maybe Burkhard Dallwitz & Philip Glass based on the saint Father Maximillian Klobe

Check out other Philip Glass too, he's a minimalist composer who did Pruit igore, that really come out now as a popular song and on of my faves, this song i had to put of, outstanding, very very good, Philip Glass for Paul Schrader's (Who Wrote a few Martin Scorsese's films) film Mishima life in four chapter, which look like an interesting film, might look it up in the libary haha

The Master Ennio Morricone

The Mission trailer
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvWaD-NErlY

Can't find the scene which is annoying but the song is good.

"the good, the bad and the ugly" by sergio leone, Brillient film, brillient camerawork, and music of course, on a note, Sergio leone's, spaghetti western were often done very cheaply with the use of storytelling, Camerawork, and music, actors, talent all coming together to make a good film.

Mark Mothersbaugh "A maverick renagade" or not, but makes some intersting songs, from the band called "devo", he also composed the music for the sims video game.

Okay now, Im getting tired, but there more to go and talk about, Just a quick mention of pop music used in films,Quintin Tarantino make good use of music to put with his films, even going so far as to write a scene around a particualar song, Another Filmaker who uses pop music for alot of his films is Cameron Crowe, who was a music journalist before going into filmaking.

From tarnatino death proof, i did'nt like the film, although the soundtrack is good, this song i like alot

From Resoviour Dogs, really good intro, alot of times i leave cafes i think of this song.

Cameron Crowes Almost famous is also an interesting film to check out for music and story mixed.
The Clips a bit like "the apartment" made by Billy Wilder, who i think is Cameron Crowes favorite director or film.

And finally for tonight, is the artists, Some clips or use of sound and how they've inventivly used it, in a films

Godard, Bande A part, an ealry film from his work, It sound like the ambience is competing with the Characters, but look for narration, the dance, how the music cuts out etc, Use of levels, Tarantino was influence by this in pulp fiction, but it's an interesting film to look at.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1JH3O4HSs7g , in some of truffaut films, im sure the characters start singing randomly, or maybe just jules et jim

Raging film, a bare film about a man's Emotions

Remember this

Anyway i've look through enough videos, hope you though there okay, i think i'll make this into a playlist, and will post agian soon

Now back to work pirates!!!
I actually think those Story boards will be hard to follow, looking at them haha

Hey Up, guys

Hey Guys, was a good meeting earlier today, feeling good about the film.

So to Summarise, we are going to do a dress film rehearsal next Wednesday. so, I'll fill out the form for addsets,to lets us film there, and I'm gonna put up so of my cheesy Storyboards for you Qamar, and I'll print them off too if you don't have a printer.

Music

I really enjoyed that video, Qamar! I'm not sure if it's a bit too dramatic for the film, but on another note, I think you'll like these videos!

The second video is just an image, but it's the music I think you'll like really.
I very much doubt we'll use them, I just thought you'd like them, haha!

Story Summary

Hey guys! Reporting for duty and so on.
Just a bit of a summary for Qamar's sake of everything that went on today! Had a really good meeting, and got looooads done, so this is basically what's going to happen in the film.

  • The story starts with a split screen of the 3 characters, like we discussed. Their alarms go off, and this triggers the music (yet to be established) to begin.
  • They each go about their morning routine, still in split screen
  • As they leave their houses to begin their day, the split screen freezes each of their images. The camera then zooms into the character on the far left - the character searching for success. (For now, let's call him Scott, as this guy may be playing him!)
  • This is the character Charlotte is working on. He works on the street, playing his guitar, trying to get noticed. The camera follows him as he begins to play.
  • The camera then picks up on a girl as she puts some money into his hat - they exchange glances and smiles. As she leaves, the camera begins to follow her, all of this still with the music in the background.
  • The camera follows the girl (character name....Chloe?) as she goes to the library. She walks past the character searching for knowledge on the way (character name....Ben? Just suggestions, haha!) Ben is getting some food, and the camera moves away from concentrating on the girl's journey to concentrating on Ben's. He goes into the library, not far behind Chloe, through the doors. As the door shuts behind him, the music cuts out.
  • Cut to inside the library. Ben is walking towards the books, searching through them and gathering. He walks past the girl, establishing for the audience that she is there too, though the camera does not stop on her. He sits down to begin to read.
  • Cut back to Scott with his guitar. He is at home now (perhaps use the link of sitting down - as Ben sits down it could cut to Scott sitting down in his home? Also, this could be an opportunity to use some of the instrumental links that Qamar wanted to use.) Scott is looking through his hat of earnings, and he comes across a business card. On it is written the name of the company (something pirate related :P), the adress, a number and a date and time to meet.
  • It cuts to Scott getting prepared to go to the meeting on the card. He is excited, as is he is finally getting his big break.
  • He leaves the house, looking confident. However, as time goes on, he passes through streets not knowing where he is. He looks from the card to the street names, getting more and more confused, constantly checking his watch. Finally, he comes across the library, and rushes inside. (We also discussed having him trying to get out of the rain on this part - which obviously we will have to decide on the day depending on the weather :).)
  • Cut to Ben, still with his books. He is getting more tired and bored looking. The camera follows him as he continues to exchange books and so on. Suddenly, Scott rushes up to him - they do not know each other. Scott asks Ben if he knows the directions to the place he is trying to find for his interview with the music company.
  • After Scott gets the directions, he starts to walk out of the library, though something stops him. He spots Chloe, looking through the books. He stands on the opposite side of the shelf to her - she is completely unaware of him.
  • The camera begins to focus on Chloe. She stands at the bookshelf, her hand scanning the books. As she comes across the one she is looking for, she takes it out - and a pair of eyes stare at her through the gap. At first she does not notice this, and turns to walk away, but she sees him out of the corner of her eye...however, when she turns back to the gap, he is gone.
  • Intrigued, Chloe edges her way around the shelf to the side on which Scott was standing. She peers around the edge, only to see several guys, all around the same age - it could have been any one of them. (Scott is not there). Suddenly, as if sensing they were being spied on, they all look up at her. Startled, she jumps, and scrambles around the corner.
  • As she half-runs, not looking where she is going, she bumps into someone. Books go flying, and she falls flat backwards.
  • Here, there is a POV shot, from Chloe, looking up at the ceiling. There is the sound of Chloe groaning in pain. Scott slowly comes into shot, over her, novel in hand. He asks, "Is this yours?"
  • Embarassed, Chloe jumps up, snatching the novel. She shuffles away quickly, towards the exit. Scott laughs, then after a second, realises where he still is, and looks at his watch - he has missed his interview.
From here, the story begins to resolve itself. Ben's character recieves an email which gives him a new outlook on life, and the other 2 characters are happy that they have met each other. In the end, the film returns to split screen and each of the characters go to sleep. We just need to decide the order in which that bit happens! :)

I hope that was okay guys, and easy to understand! If anyone thinks anything needs to be added or changed then just shove a comment on here, or if you think I've missed anything out, or if you have any questions.

Cheers!

Qamar's Vid set 4

an example of A.R. rahman's work, this piece is really good for looking at sound and how it is layed with all that orchestra, the chorus singers and the main singer

this video is made by amaturs but it in intersted because of the way they use a bollywood song in their film to tell the story a must watch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is what voice manipulation can do and how easy it is for any tom dick or harry to do it

A guarnteed video to make you laugh out loud, a spoof forom the bollywood smashit movie " OM Shanti OM" starring Don

this would be part to the previous video: this speech will be my speech when i win a oscar for the Best Director

A third video from the brilliant movie, this is what you call a situational song in the movie, and it help movie the story on like a fast forwards, or helps to portry emotions really well to emphasis a situation

Qamar's Vid set 3

for you alex some new bollywood vids
some include Don embedding disabled for this vid sorry guys
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCRcce3WRJY

Qamar's Vid set 2

if only you cound understand hindi or it had subtitles, this video shows that you don't need explosions (but they do help) to make an entertaining or powerful scene, it is the climax scene from the 2008 Bollywood movie "A Wednesday", if you can get a copy of this film with english subtitles please watch. this film proves Bollywood is better than hollywood, this movie is considered a pathbreaking film yet it is so entertaining, while a hollywood patchbreaking film is something like the crappy eraserhead.

Qamar's Vid set 1

This is entertainment and not crap art films, iwant to make films like this next video, proper entetaining with lots of crashes and show what computer generated imagery can achieve nowdays and how realistic it has become, this is from a game believe it not

a double split screen is used in this, we will top this by using a triple split screen, this is anexample of what we will be doing in our movie this show a contrast between the characters aswell as the keeping them on a level plain field. an impactful tool if used wisely
